In Paris I was judging Afghans and Salukies. I was impresed by the overall quality of these breeds in France.
Even there were outstanding Afghan Champions in the ring (some not in top condition) the young bitch from the intermediate class impresed me more then anything else: BOB: Capucine du Menuel Galopin

National Symposium for Romanian Shepherds / National Championship – 18-19.Oct.2008 / Rasnov/ RO

From 2007 the Romanian Kennel Club is organizing the National Symposium and National Championship for the 3 Romanian breeds: Mioritic, Carpatin and the not yet FCI recognized Bucovina Shepherd. It is an excelent oportunity for the judges, breeders and owners to talk about these breeds. In the same time this is the bigest and the most important show in the world for the Romanian Shepherds. I had the honour to judge our breeds again and I am very satisfied to be for another year one of the 5 judges in the world which is on the list of all 3 breed Clubs: The Mioritic Club, The Carpatin Club and the Bucovina Club.

Best in Show winner: Bucur de Curtea Veche with (from left to right): the owner, Mr. Cristian Stefanescu, the Romanian Kennel Club president, and the judges: Mr. Petru Muntean, me and Mr. Cristian Stavarache.

It was a nice event and a beautiful weekend.

On the coat of arms of Osagard village are 2 sighthounds, becouse this hungaryan village name means “ancient sighthound” (os = ancient, agar = sighthound) In the 15-th century King Sigismund used to keep his hungaryan sighthounds (Magyar Agar) in this place. And if all these facts are not enough reasons to organize here a sighthound festival, there is another one, a pure coincidence: the name of the mayor of this village is Agardi Andras (Andrew the Sighthoundist)…and this is not a joke .

In August 2008 Magyar Agar Klub organized here the first Sighthound Festival. The festival and the show (for all sighthound breeds) was a succes. First day was a beautifull opening ceremony, medieval music, opera, horses and of course: dogshow. The second day were races for all sighthhound breeds.

The 5 judges invited to this show ( Ruth Wagner -Luxemburg, Wieslawa Misterka -Poland, Doris Getzinger -Austria, Szanka Judit -Hungary and… me, from Romania ) ,were all sighthound breeders. I was very honoured to be invited to the first edition of the Sighthounds Festival in Hungary, becouse judging a club show (especially a sighthound club show) is everytime a greater honour than to judge any big show in the world.
