I started to show English Cocker Spaniels at my 12 and I used to breed them for 15 years. Since 2002 I breed Azawakhs under INSOLENS affix. In 25 years I have bred or own International, European, Romanian, Hungarian, Spanish and Portugal Champions. For a decade, I have been involved in Carpatin Romanian Shepherd as an owner, a club judge, a board member of the National Club, but also as one of the authors of the breed standard . In 2006, I was awarded by the Romanian Kennel Club for my contribution to the standardization of the Romanian Shepherds. I wrote several articles about general genetics and anatomy of the dog, colour inheritance, Azawakh, Carpatin and English Cocker Spaniel breed descriptions for various magazines and for breed club seminars. As the Vice President of the Mures County Kennel Club for more than 10 years I was one of the organizers of the first editions of the now famous “Dracula Dog Show”, the biggest show in Romania.
Since 1998 I have been privileged to judge international shows, specialty shows and BIS in almost every European country, Russia and Israel. In the last years, working as a physician, both in Romania and the UK, I have less time for dog shows as I used to have in the past, but I still try to stay close to the world I will belong forever: the dog world.

I found your site, from some photo from DDS report. It’s really great site. Many, many interesting items, not only for dogs fan. I like it. Keep going
Congratulations, Cristi! You are one from the few referees that i’m proud of! i can hardly wait for you to judge my dog!
nice blog. i hope to see more pictures of your azawakhs!
best regards!
Congratulations and hope not to change and stay the same vertical and good referee!
I’ve been in love with sighthounds forever and I own a greyhound, very sweet and lovely but definitely not a guard dog. I’m very interested to know more about Azawakh hound but I found very little info about it here in USA. Any sugestions? This breed is in its infancy in USA and understandably very little is known about this dog’s ability as a performer. A few owners I spoke to, commended this dog for its ability as a family guard dog. Question: on a scale from 1 to 10, where would you place this dog’s ability as a guard dog?
ps: I could write in Romanian but my keyboard would make it look rather incomplete and cumbersome to read.
depends what you expect from a guard dog ? If it’s about alertness it’s a 10 becouse there are no other breed more suspicious with the strangers than the Azawakh but if it’s about discipline it’s only a 4.
A judge who is always looking to perfect his knowledge is admirable. My friendly congrats and all the best, Cristi , keep up the good work!
Hello Christi,

Mult succes in continuare atat pe plan profesional cat si privat, sper sa am onoarea sa te am si ca albitru in una dintre expoziti.
For some time now, we are trying to find the best show quality Azawakh puppy available. We are located in Puerto Rico and my friend (who is an excellent handler and whippet breeder) and myself have been researching the Azawakh for some time now and are fascinated by this breed. I checked them out at the World Dog Show in Paris last year but could not get information, since I did not have the catalog for that day. Will be again at the World Dog Show in Salzburg, but will be showing one of my Havanese girls. We are really looking for a top quality male, which we will be showing in the Caribbean, South America and the USA (Love the one on the right side of your picture). Could you help us?
We are just thinking to mate INSOLENS BURKINA, 2010 European Junior Winner bitch with the 2011 World Champion and BOB male, Aulad al Sahra’s L’Eguel, which was also my best male in SLAG club show last year. I want to keep a female for myself so it is possible to talk about the best male but first let’s see if we will have this litter this summer. Regards,
The one of the right side of my picture is Huilaco’s Jehanarh Khan, my oldest male and the only one which stays with us. He is very sick now and we do not expect any puppies from him unfortunately.
